Community Benefit Project with Ceredigion College
We’re happy to report that the tour went very well and the students really enjoyed it. They raised many great questions such as:-
How do you ensure that the site is safe to work on?
Do you take care not to pollute the local environment with dirty water from mixers etc?
What are the benefits of working in the Construction Industry?
What do you think a sustainable housing estate will look like in fifty years’ time?
We were also joined by the WWHA who have expressed how much they enjoyed the tour.
We plan to facilitate one more tour with the same students towards the end of the programme showing them how the end product looks.
Construction begins in Sageston, Pembrokeshire
Morgan Construction Wales Ltd is delighted to be working with Ateb Group and Millbay Homes on an major development at Sageston, Pembrokeshire. MCW is delivering a first phase of 30 open-market homes for Millbay and 40 affordable homes for Ateb – a scheme that has benefitted from funding through Welsh Government’s Innovating Housing Programme. Initial works include site clearance of structures and building foundations from the former RAF Carew Cheriton airfield.
Completion of 32 homes in St. Davids for Millbay
Throughout the unpredictable Winter, Morgan Construction have completed a development with 32 units for Millbay on Glasfryn Rd, St Davids. The building of a further 38 units for Ateb we’ll be complete over the next couple of months.
Weather won’t stop progress
Despite a challenging environment during the past year and the west Wales winter weather to contend with over recent months – works are progressing well at our site in Gwynfa, Carmarthen on behalf of Pobl Developments. This project to deliver 10 Affordable Homes has utilised innovative Durisol woodcrete ICF blocks. Durisol is manufactured in south Wales from woodcrete (recycled waste wood which is chipped into wood fibre before being bonded together with cement), the pre-insulated units are dry-staked on site then in-filled with concrete. This is therefore a highly environmental form of build. The last blocks and concrete pour were carried out in early Feb, with overall completion programmed for later this spring!
New Contract Award – Gwynfa, Pobl
MCW-Ltd has just commenced work on a new scheme for Pobl Developments in Carmarthen. The scheme will deliver 10 new 2 and 3-bed houses for social rent, contributing to addressing the housing need in the town.
The site is located on the existing Ty Gwynfa land between Abergwili and Bronwydd Road. Challenges include significant site clearance whilst protecting the mature trees on site, and construction of a new access road from Abergwili Road.
The houses will be constructed from Durisol block. This innovative product is made from woodcrete blocks – providing a robust, sustainable and thermally effective superstructure.
Works are programmed to start with site clearance in February and take a duration of around 12 months.
